A program of The Foodshed Network, in partnership with Greenwich Conservation Commission

FOODSHED FORUM 2025

THE FOODSHED FORUM is in collaboration
with Greenwich Conservation Commission

The Foodshed Forum, is a program of The Foodshed Network, and was co-founded in 2022 by myself and Sarah Coccaro the Assistant Director of the Environmental Affairs Department. The Forums serve as an educational and convening platform focused on systemic change with the food system. We help communities understand the value in protecting their foodshed. Our programs facilitate the cross-pollination of ideas and information among food justice practitioners, and anyone who is interested in learning about and participating in an equitable and resilient and regionalized food system. Forums bridge communities while uplifting the grass-roots initiatives that are shifting the food culture towards land and food sovereignty for all. Forum discussions offer two adjacent frameworks that are intended to help people outside the food justice space grasp the food system holistically, while deepening their understanding of its nuance:

One framework is the industrial food system through a racial and gender justice lens
and integrates the historical and present day arc of food production, including its through-line as a harmful system.

Another framework is a food system through a lens of food as a human right: one that centers creativity, cares for community and nature and works to heal our social and ecological fabric by strengthening relationships and connection.
